Community guidelines

This is a working community for people who use Pinterest seriously. These guidelines exist so it stays worth reading.

Post things other people can use

The best threads here are specific. “My impressions dropped 60% in three weeks, here is what changed” gets useful answers. “Pinterest is broken, anyone else?” does not.

  • Give real numbers and real context — your niche, your volume, what you changed.
  • Say what you already tried. It saves everyone repeating it back to you.
  • Search before posting. If a thread already answers it, add to that one.
  • Mark an answer when you get one, so the next person finds it.

Self-promotion

Linking your own work is fine when it is part of an answer. Posting to get clicks is not. The difference is whether the post still makes sense with the link removed.

  • Share results, breakdowns and what you learned — including the failures.
  • Do not post threads whose only purpose is traffic to your site, shop or affiliate link.
  • Disclose affiliate links. Undisclosed ones get removed.
  • No follow-for-follow, group boards recruiting, or engagement pods.

Treat people well

Disagreeing is welcome and useful. Most Pinterest advice is contested, and a thread where two experienced people disagree is often the most valuable thing on the site.

  • Argue with the claim, not the person.
  • No harassment, slurs, or personal attacks.
  • Do not post anyone’s private information, including your own.
  • Beginners ask beginner questions. That is the point.

What gets removed

  • Spam, scams, and anything selling engagement or followers.
  • Adult content, illegal content, or content that violates Pinterest’s own policies.
  • Impersonating another member, the team, or Pinterest.
  • Duplicate threads and bulk-posted links.

How moderation works

Moderators can hide a post, lock a thread or suspend an account. Hiding is reversible and is usually the first step — it takes something out of view while we look at it.

If you think something breaks these guidelines, use the report link on the post rather than replying to argue. Reports go to the moderators, and the person you reported is not told who reported them.

If your post was removed and you think that was wrong, contact the team. We would rather hear it than have you assume the worst.

These will change

Guidelines get rewritten as the community grows and finds problems nobody predicted. If something here is unclear or unfair, say so.
