How I actually batch a month of pins without losing my mind

Sarah Chen

Posting this because the usual advice is "just use Bulk Create" and it skips the part that breaks.

Spreadsheet, one row per pin: headline, URL, which template, which photo. I write all the headlines in one sitting, completely separately from designing, because flipping between writing and designing is what kills me. Then Bulk Create fills the text, I swap photos by hand because that never automates well, export the folder, schedule.

The bit nobody mentions: every description has to be different. Pasting the same description onto ten pins pointing at one URL is how you quietly get throttled.

Writing headlines separately from designing is the whole tip honestly, the rest is logistics. I do 40 headlines in one go, half of them are rubbish, but the good ones are far better than anything I write while nudging a text box around.

Photo swapping does automate if you go the CSV route with hosted image URLs, but then you're maintaining an image host and a column of links, and for most people that's more work than dragging a photo in.
