Figured we could use a proper introductions thread.

Me: Priya, three years in, I pin about capsule wardrobes for people who hate shopping. Started as a way to procrastinate on a different project and it became the project.

The thing I wish someone had told me: your first fifty pins are practice. Make them, publish them, and let go of them. I spent about four months perfecting six pins and learned nothing. Your turn.

Hi Priya. I'm Marcus, 14 months in, and I pin about restoring old hand tools. Extremely small audience, extremely loyal.

Thing I wish I'd known: that the people who do this professionally and the people who do it as a hobby need completely different advice, and almost all the advice online is written for the first group. I burned a year trying to run a 25-pins-a-day operation on hobby hours before I accepted I could do four and be fine.

Hello. Tomas, based in Prague, I pin about renovating panelák apartments — Eastern European concrete block flats. Niche within a niche within a language barrier.

What I wish I'd known: that writing in English would roughly quadruple my reach but halve my relevance. I still haven't fully solved this. I run two accounts now, Czech and English, and the Czech one converts about six times better per click even though it's a tenth of the size.

Been at this since 2019, which in this space makes me ancient. I pin about apartment composting and worm bins. Yes really.

Thing I wish someone had said: the platform will change out from under you at least once a year and the people who survive are the ones who didn't build their entire strategy on one feature. I've watched three different pin formats get hyped as the future and then quietly stop being the future. Make good content about things people want, put it where people are looking. The rest is weather.
