Nothing clever, but it's repeatable. Type the seed term in the app search bar, screenshot the autocomplete. Tap the seed, screenshot the guided search bubbles. Then tap one bubble and screenshot the second row of bubbles that appears — that third layer is where the long tail actually lives. "living room" gets me "living room ideas"; two layers down I'm getting things like "small living room layout with tv and fireplace". Dump it all in a sheet, keep anything with at least three bubbles branching off it.

That second layer of bubbles is genuinely underrated and it's where I find phrases no keyword tool has. One addition: do it logged out or in a private window if you can. Logged in you are partly getting your own browsing history handed back to you and calling it research.
Roughly what I do, plus I cross-check in the Ads Manager keyword field which gives you ranges rather than the 0-100 index. Worth saying out loud though: that's advertiser demand for the term, not organic searches. Directional only, don't treat it as a volume number.
"at least three bubbles branching off it" is a nice concrete filter, I'm taking that. Mine was "does the results page look like junk" which is not something I can hand to a VA.
